The annual MLB winter meetings kick off on Monday from Orlando, Florida, and with it comes a whirlwind of activity, whether it's actual deals getting done or simply a wave of new rumors and speculation to dissect.

And no one rebuilt their team at the winter meetings using a series of trades more than St. Louis Cardinals GM Whitey Herzog in 1980, who engineered three trades involving 23 players, including future Hall of Famers Bruce Sutter, Rollie Fingers and Ted Simmons. Other top starting pitchers on the market include 30-year-old All-Stars in Zac Gallen and Ranger Suarez, and future Hall of Famers in Max Scherzer (41) and Justin Verlander (43). Baseball's annual winter meetings begin on Dec. 7 and could feature a flurry of free agent deals and trades.

Baseball America, the biggest evaluator of baseball prospects, is releasing its new rankings, team by team. They recently put out the Padres top 10 prospect list with evaluations for each player.

The 2026 season will be the 50th in Mariners history, which will feature a year-long celebration of Major League Baseball in Seattle. And with that in mind, the time seems ripe to dip into some nostalgia,
