Both Camry and Highlander were previously offered in Japan. Much like the Supra, the original Japanese Camry was a Celica. Or at least a sedan called the Celica Camry. The car first came to the US in its second-generation in 1983, and Toyota began building the third-generation (V20) of the car in Kentucky in 1988.
