Flood alerts go into effect on Tuesday as areas impacted by recent fires, like the Palisades and Eaton fires, brace for possible debris flows.

Los Angeles County was placed under an updated flood watch by the National Weather Service on Monday at 4:53 p.m. The watch is valid from Tuesday 4 p.m. until Thursday Dec. 25, at 10 p.m.

The Portland area and much of western Oregon is under a flood watch Saturday morning, as local waterways continue to swell with the record rainfall that hit the region this week.

St. Mary’s Catholic School in Waterford is recovering from severe flooding damage.The flooding began last Friday afternoon, affecting the first floor with water and raw sewage. Water levels reached at least two inches in some areas.

With only sporadic rainfall in the forecast, water should gradually dissipate but it may take hours or even a day for that to happen.
