Max Verstappen Reveals New Car Number

“My favorite number has always been 3, apart from #1,” Verstappen said in an interview with Viaplay. “We can now swap, so it’ll be #3. #33 was always fine, but I just like one 3 better than two. I always said it represented double luck, but I’ve already had my luck in Formula 1.”
Since 2014, F1 drivers have been allowed to pick a race number to use throughout their careers. Verstappen chose the No. 33 when he made his F1 debut in 2015, but used the No. 1 between 2022 and 2025 after winning four F1 titles in a row. The No. 1 is reserved for the reigning champion, with Lando Norris able to use the number next year.
Max Verstappen reveals how becoming a father has changed his life, priorities, and mindset away from Formula 1’s relentless pressure.
